The Health Benefits Of Stretching

Stretching is the process of elongating the muscles by sustained end range movement. Any muscle can be contracted to do an action. On the other hand, the muscle can also be stretched, which is the opposite of contraction. When the muscle in the body is contracted, the length of the muscle will decrease. This usually happens when a person is working. The muscle works by contracting.

The stretching of the muscles is the method in which the muscle is elongated to the maximum. There are many reasons for stretching the muscles and there are certain benefits of stretching the muscles.
When the muscles are elongated, they do not become stiff and shortened. Any body part that is not used for a long time will undergo changes of disuse. If the muscle is not stretched to the end range, then the muscles can become less elastic and stay in the shortened position. Stretching it on the other hand, will keep the muscle to be flexible.

Other than the flexibility issue, the lack of stretching of the muscle can also cause it to be at a higher risk of suffering injury. Any person who is leading an active lifestyle may be required to move the various muscles in the body to the end ranges of movements. During this activity, if the muscles get stretched beyond the limit to which it is usually moved, then it can suddenly get broken or damaged. This is one of the common reasons for sportspersons being injured. Any sportsperson needs to stretch the muscle completely before participating. If there is no proper stretching, then the muscle can suddenly tear leading to injury. Warm up before any activity is done is required mainly to stretch the muscles. Proper warm up with adequate stretching will prevent any muscle injuries in people.
