Different Types of Fasting for Good Health

Fitness has become one of the prime most health concerns for people. Leading a mostly sedentary lifestyle and consuming rich, unhealthy food has led to a drastic rise in the number of people facing obesity. There are several other health complications that follow close on the heels of excess weight gain. In order to avoid putting on too much weight, people try out all kinds of diets and fitness regimes. While most of these diets help you lose weight, they may end up causing you more harm due to lack of nutrition. Going on restrictive diets for a prolonged is not advised by most fitness experts. However, one trend that has been fast gaining popularity is that of fasting. There are different types of fasts that people can follow which require them to abstain from certain food items for a safe yet effective duration. Here are some of the different kinds of fasts:

1.       Pure Water: This has to be the toughest form of fasting. A person is required to have nothing but water through a 24 hour cycle. This is a very hard but effective method as not only des it cut down on body fat but also flushes out a lot of toxins that build up in the body. However, this should not be done more than once a week.

2.       Juice Day: Like the Pure Water fast, in this method you only have liquids throughout the day. You can have fruit and vegetable juices or soups. Make sure you don’t add sugar and avoid foods rich in carbohydrates. Again, this should be followed only once a week.

3.       Lemon and honey fast: If your find the Pure Water fast too difficult, you could try mixing the juice of a lemon and a table spoon of honey in the water. This will keep you energized and also effectively detoxifies your system. This should also be followed only one day in a week.
